The Young Parents No Fixed Address Network engages in and supports research initiatives that focus on the needs and experiences of young parents. We can offer researchers contact with over 30 agencies serving young families across Toronto ​and over 100 front line service providers and the clients they serve.

RESEARCH STUDY:

Exploring the experiences of homelessness and food insecurity during the COVID-19 pandemic among pregnant and postpartum people in Toronto

 

This research study is being conducted by Barbara Chyzzy RN, PhD from the Daphne Cockwell School of Nursing at Ryerson University. This study is funded by Ryerson’s Faculty of Community Services COVID-19 Rapid Response Research Grant.

Birth Count Study

How Many Homeless Women Give Birth In Toronto Each Year??


Our network has been supporting the work of Dr. Joyce Bernstein (Epidemiologist/Statistician, Toronto Public Health) over the past 4 years as she has gathered data related to the number of homeless women in Toronto giving birth every year.  Her 2012 report is attached here:

This study resumed January 2019 to hopefully get a more accurate reading.
